AI-integrated backup operations
VaultPilot includes a local Model Context Protocol bridge so compatible assistants can inspect health, explain failures, review recovery evidence, start backups, create schedules, test alerts, calculate retention, and create isolated recovery copies.
The bridge stays local, uses the authenticated VaultPilot API, and requires explicit confirmation for state-changing tools. AI assists the operator; it does not bypass the security boundary.

Why this is different
VaultPilot can test an archive by decrypting, decompressing, extracting, and confirming that content is present. This proves archive readability; application-level recovery still requires your own recovery procedure and testing.
Sources are collected, compressed with zstd, and encrypted. A checksum is written alongside the archive.
VaultPilot decrypts the archive into a temp directory, tests the stream, extracts it, and confirms it isn't empty.
All decrypted and extracted data is removed. Nothing sits around unencrypted.
Results appear in the dashboard and are emailed when optional alert delivery is configured.
Guarded retention
VaultPilot calculates retention candidates from daily, weekly, monthly, age, count, and storage rules. Review or export the dry run, then explicitly confirm pruning from the dashboard.
